  • I think you are missing one option. Being part of a group is the most important thing to a lot of Christians. The threat people face for thinking outside the group is to be expelled or shunned - it's a control mechanism and it's central to the way many Christians behave.

  • Religious thinking doesn't add up, it never has and it never will. Some people are happy to contort their minds into accepting 1+1=3, the engineer in me finds it deeply disturbing.
